Dr Gavin Clunie

Dr Clunie is a Rheumatologist and Metabolic Bone Physician (NHS work at Addenbrooke's). He has been a Consultant Rheumatologist for 12y and has had a substantial subspecialty interest in metabolic bone diseases, osteoporosis included, for much longer.

Dr Clunie is a general Rheumatologist as well as Metabolic Bone Physician and he sees patients with (or possibly with) all types of inflammatory arthritis, soft-tissue problems and widespread musculoskeletal pain. He has a particular interest in patients with, or family history of psoriasis - who are prone to a range of musculoskeletal disorders, loosely termed Psoriatic Arthritis.

Dr Clunie has pioneered the development of Fracture Liaison Services in The UK working with Department of Health over the last 5years; and he has been Director of DXA scanning Units in both Ipswich and London (UCL). He has published research in both bone and rheumatological diseases and is the author/editor of 3 textbooks: 2 in Rheumatology (Oxford Handbook and Desk-Reference) and one on Osteoporosis. Dr Clunie is also Chair of the Training Committee for Rheumatology East of England, Regional Chair of The British Society of Rheumatology and is an officer of the UK Bone Research Society. 

Previously Dr Clunie has run research projects in Shoulder Disorders and Ankylosing Spondylitis / Spondylarthropathy
